What makes mothers all that they are?
Might as well ask, “What makes a star?”

Hi! I'm Yumi, I'm 18 years old, and I'm a huge Legend of Korra fan.
I ship Makorra VERY VERY HARD and I'm a huge fan of Mako, but I respect all opinions and ships.
I also love A:TLA, LOTR/Hobbit, Kingdom Hearts, Bioshock. Harry Potter, Studio Ghibli films, Disney, Avengers, Inception, Uncharted, etc.
This blog will mostly be comprised of reblogs, fangirling, and insanity.

Have some Korra Krew brotos (bro photos lol) in anticipation of season 2 (pigs will fly and Jesus will come again before we get an airdate ;_;).
In my head this happens right before they leave for the North Pole and they’re goofing around Air Temple Island with a prototype Future Industries camera (let’s just say they had a decent camera, I mean if they had life-altering plastic surgery).
The finished version of this sketch I posted a few days ago. I may have referenced some actual photos with friends for this, Also, I opted for sanity and screencapped the backgrounds.

mako and bolin page 1
MD, top: We wanted to include a story about brothers in Korra, which is where the idea for Mako and Bolin came from. They also illustrate how family and culture had become more mixed, seventy years after the original series. Mako and Bolin’s mother came from the Fire Nation and their father hailed from the Earth Kingdom, but they both were killed when Mako and Bolin were young. Forced to grow up too soon, Mako protected and shielded Bolin from the darker side of the world. This is why Mako grew to become the more cynical and serious of the two, while Bolin still remained childlike and naive.
JDS, middle: This is a pretty early pass I did on the brothers. It’s kind of strange to look back at these now, as I think our initial…[unintelligible]…was to make Bolin a little pudgy. Still, you can see some of the DNA for the characters…[unintelligible]…in. I can remember struggling to find the impact that progress and industry would have on fashion in the Avatar universe. Mako and Bolin concepts by Joaquim Dos Santos.
MD, bottom: Mako and Bolin spent much of their youth running small-time scams in the…[unintelligible]…streets of Republic City (above). Concepts by Eun-Sang Yang. Paintings by Frederic Stewart. Right: Ki-Hyun Ryu’s wacky concepts of a version of Bolin that never came to be.
JDS, bottom: You’ve got to love Ryu…Only he could envision one of the lead characters as a bowl cut-wearing…[unintelligible]…clown. Bolin concepts by Ki-Hyun Ryu.
Second unintelligable word in second paragraph looks like “creeping” btw.
On another note… WE’RE GONNA SEE SOME OF THESE SCAMMING ABILITIES RIGHT?
YOU KNOW THEIR SCAMS WERE ALL AS *WELL PLANNED* AS THE CHARMANDER SNEEZE.

The Legend of Korra Art Book,
Pages 10 - 17 for Book 1
[All the text for each page I tried to type out, past the cut. (Things in brackets) are usually stuff I couldn’t read/look up properly.] [By the way, it’s implied that pages 8 and 9 have a spread painting.]
You can always count on Sokka :)
oh no now i want to cry :(((
#SOKKA ROCKED YA #what a good guy. what a wonderful guy. #i love sokka’s quiet character arc throughout the series #how he goes from being this frustrated teen struggling to meet this extremely limited definition of manhood #to being happy and comfortable with the man he is: #someone who respects women. who fights but likes to shop too and whose biggest role is holding people together and supporting them #who plans and builds and likes to draw and still has self doubts and accepts too much guilt and too many responsibilities and claims t #be a realist and a cynic but at the end of the day he puts a rainbow in where one wasn’t before
#but at the end of the day he puts a rainbow in where one wasn’t before

Hello fellow Hotman! It’s about time I was able to write up something Korra related. Though it’s not what you want to hear, it shows that there is indeed progress on the horizon.
At an Animation press event, Nickelodeon announced that Legend of Korra will air later this…

I’m excited to share with you the final cover art (Korra drawn by Joaquim Dos Santos and painted by me, with a background painting by Fred Stewart) for the upcoming Korra Book One: Air art book, published by our good friends at Dark Horse Books. This was a real labor of love (heavy on the labor) for Mike, Joaquim, and me and all those who helped as we put this book together, and we are so proud of all the great artists’ work inside and can’t wait to share it with all of you. The plan is to do one of these art books per “book” of Korra (so four total), which is daunting yet fantastic.
Direct market on sale date: July 24, 2013.
Book market on sale date: August 6, 2013.
9” x 12” hardcover, 144 pages
Bryan just posted the amazing cover of the upcoming Korra art book! It will have tons of awesome pre-production art from book 1 and captions from me, Bryan, and Joaquim describing what went into developing the story and look of the show.
